Thanksgiving 2018

This was our fist major holiday away from any family (not even our Nashville family members were around!), and it was definitely sad to not see them. I remember last year trying to soak it up, spending Thanksgiving Day with my family, and then having a second Thanksgiving with Luke's family.  This year it was just the five of us, and ended up being a pretty sweet time.

We decided to not do a turkey since it would be way too much meat for all of us, and did a little ham instead. And it seemed like the better option since Noelle and Jonah both requested ham! I made a tomato/cucumber/feta cheese side and a "healthier" sweet potato casserole, while Luke handled the ham, mac'n'cheese, and rolls. The kids ate ham and rolls, but Luke and I enjoyed all of it!

Noelle and Jonah helped set the table, and Noelle insisted on using a tablecloth and she wrote everyone a name card.

While Luke was making some of the food, the kids and I used the self-timer to snap some pictures!

Love these three little turkeys! It was a mostly quiet day for us, but while Clara was napping, we played Candy Land with the big kids, and after dinner we took a walk around the neighborhood. We finished up the night with eating ice cream and watching Elf!

We did also get the have a Thanksgiving fest celebration with our community group the week before Thanksgiving, as well as a Thanksgiving feast on Noelle's last day of school the Friday before Thanksgiving. Basically, we've been eating all the yummy food, and it's just going to keep coming with all the other holiday celebrations!
